The Order of the Palmetto, the highest civilian honor awarded by the governor of South Carolina, is awarded to South Carolinians who demonstrate extraordinary lifetime achievement, service and contributions of national or statewide significance. Gov. Henry McMaster presented the award to E. Ray Moore Jr. on February 5, 2025. The award recognized Ray’s achievements in ministry, public affairs and military service. Noted was Ray and Gail’s 50-year involvement in advancing K-12 Christian and homeschool education. Ray was also awarded the Bronze Star Medal for his service in Gulf War I as a chaplain.
