Micro-School

The term “Pod” is also a “Micro-School” and used interchangeably.

The term "pod" can be a useful term to describe a multi-faceted, adjustable and flexible form of parent-directed home education. Creating "pods" is a flexible way to allow gifted and capable parents, wherever they may be found, to assist other parents by teaching subjects, helping in the hiring of tutors and creating classes, organizing activities, and organizing field trips. In a "pod," parents can hire whomever they deem appropriate for the needs of their children by finding Christian teachers, tutors, or teaching assistants to assist them as they teach their own children and others in the pod. This scenario presents several options including individual tutoring, single classes, group classes, or even possibly one-room, schoolhouse-type scenarios. Further, parents do not need expensive facilities. They can meet wherever they are allowed: a home, a library, a Sunday school classroom, even an outdoor setting can be used. Homeschoolers just must be sure they follow all the legal requirements in their jurisdictions and are aware of any insurance related issues that may apply in their location.
