Young Entrepreneurs Credit Homeschooling for Success

The Liberty Sentinel | by Alex Newman – April 28, 2025

Friends,

When I met Grace and Quinn Pittman, homeschooled children that live on a family farm in Florida, I knew they were special. As school-age children, they started QP Goat Soap, a company that has grown to provide real soap products to Americans nationwide. My family has used their soap for a while, and it is fantastic.

Recently, I sat down and interviewed the sibling duo to learn how homeschooling equipped them to be entrepreneurs and discover what advice they would give to their peers. It was inspiring.

Please watch our discussion and consider supporting their company.

The Product

Did you know that most of the “soap” you use is not actually real soap? According to the FDA, soap is “composed mainly of the ‘alkali salts of fatty acids,’ that is, the material you get when you combine fats or oils with an alkali, such as lye.” This means that soap is a mixture of fats/oils and lye.

Is that what the bar in your shower is? NO! When commercial entities make what they call “soap,” they are actually chemically removing the fats and oils (known as glycerin) from the product in order to make lotion, or some other cosmetic application that requires glycerin. So, these companies get a “twofer” while you get dry, tough skin.

The products sold in stores are better designated as cleansers. In fact, they cannot call their product soap. Walk down the “soap aisle” in your local grocery and you will see “facial bars,” “body bars,” “face cleansers” and so on, but only very few, if any products will be labeled “soap.” According to the FDA, they cannot be unless the fats and oils remain in the product.

THERE IS AN ALTERNATIVE!

Quinn Pittmann’s Goat Soap, a Liberty Sentinel partner, offers REAL soap with REAL ingredients… that you can actually pronounce! Based in Florida, qpgoatsoap.com makes a plethora of soap products that make your skin silky, smooth, and healthy. Try The Liberty Sentinel collection, which contains Alex Newman’s special selections!
